Hellshock
![]() |
Years ago, Jae Lee announced his creator owned book, which, unfortunately, due to several reasons beyond his will (or so he claimed), came out late. Not did it only come out late, it had about as much pages as a the instructions booklet for "How to Play Tetris" (I assure you it's very few). However, the fans liked it, and the first installment of HELLSHOCK was a modest success. Years later, Lee announced the HELLSHOCK ongoing series. Once again the book came out late... Only this time the result was one of the very best comics I've ever put my eyes upon. The art was so full of mood and feeling. The story, taking a completely different direction, became a sad tale about a Psychologist, working as an Intern in a nuthouse, and Daniel, the lead character from the first series, now an amnesiac. Unlike the fantastic tale of the first books, the ongoing series had a very realistic approach to it but, at the same time, kept us, the reader, in a constant state of expectation. There were many hints to paranormal events which kept the reader "tingling", but reality always seemed to prevail. Unfortunately, lateness seems to be a characteristic Jae Lee cannot overcome. In one and half years only three issues of HELLSHOCK were published, and the series was eventually dropped. Damn!! Anyway, this IS THE story to look after. If you already read it don't hesitate to send me your feedback. It's always nice to know what other people think.
